Sunny San Francisco

Well now, I stated in earlier post that I would come to you when I have something to write about. This is one of those times. When you hear about the city, San Francisco, I'm sure all kinds of racey thoughts run through your mind. I'm here to tell you on my recent visit there (Oct 22-30), those crazy thoughts ran this way as well until the moment I touched down! This place is gorgeous!!! My visit was to a girlfriend of mine who moved there quite some years ago now. She invited me out and I've never been more thankful. The people here are genuinely very kind. Although some of what I experience was a little undertone-ish in racism, all in all I had a very good time. I also noticed wherever I went, there was a high concentration of Asians... gay Asians! That's new to me somewhat although on a trip to Thailand, they're all over. I stayed in the Castro area of San Francisco. Which from my understanding is the gayest area in San Francisco! I can't agree more. A place where even the husbands have husbands; I don't have a chance (LOL).
I've taken pics of areas in the Castro as well as the Port of San Francisco (Embarcadero), Bay Bridge, Angel Island, Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz prison, just to name a few. There was even a film premier of the movie "Milk" starring Sean Penn. I also visited the De Young Museum as well. So I will group all these pics separately (ie: Golden Gate Pics, Museum Pics, Castro Pics, etc). Enjoy my view of San Francisco. I will be returning soon enough.

A Chorus Line... The Finale!!!

Well here I go again hangin' out for the last of the last of A Chorus Line on Broadway! I attended this fabulous show that ran this time for the past 2 years. I guess with slacking sales and whatever else was happening, the producers of the show decided to call it quits. This was my second time attending and like the first I was just in awe of all the goings on. It was worth every penny!

It got even easier when a childhood family friend of mine, James T Lane, who plays Richie, invited me to come down my very first time. His mom alerted me that her baby was on Broadway! Of course I got excited because the last time I seen James was when I was babysitting him when we both lived in Philadelphia, PA way back when. Wow how time flys...

As far as I'm concerned, James is my star! I loved him then but even more now. He has really far past any of my wildest dreams and I'm sure his as well. I just feel blessed and honored to have a little history with him and the family. Which we are all family! So enjoy what pictures I could get. My camera is not the greatest. I must get a better one soon enough... Blessed Love to you all, Kiki

No Day But Today... RENT!!!

Well here I go again... This past Friday Aug 1, I managed to make it down to Bryant Park (NYC) to see the current and former cast members of the Broadway play RENT. I almost didn't make it after waking up a little after 4am when I was supposed to be leaving out at that time. I pulled it together though and was out the door by 5am. Got down there and to my surprise folks were lined up along the wall of the park but I still got a place in line.
They started letting us in at about 6:30a or so and by 7am everything started to get rolling. The band was excellent! Warming us up for what about to be a great morning down there. This event was broacasted on ABC's Good Morning America and sponsored by Listerine! Well Listerine didn't give out their usual packets this time around like when I saw Patti LaBelle some months earlier.
Anyhow the oringinal Mark (Anthony Rapp) and Roger (Adam Pascal) were there looking and sounding great! I noticed Anthony is loosing his hair in the center of his head but still managed to do his thing anyhow.
There were also some other singers from the oringinal production there but I don't remember her name right now. I would have loved to see that fine azz Jesse L Martin for sure but no show... Oh well:(
From Good Morning America there was Diane Sawyer, Christopher Cuomo and weatherman, Sam Champion! Sam is lovely! Beautiful smile indeed.
All in all it was a beautiful morning and I was glad I went. If you haven't seen the RENT yet, please do. This play closes Sept 17. I'm going one last time. See you there...
Okay until next time. Blessed love to you all!!!

New York, NY... "da subway!"

While on my way back from my hometown of Philadelphia, I and a girlfriend of mine were trying to get home from downtown China Town. Oh yes it was dark, muggy and vacant down there but we managed to get down in the subway to find that the trains were all being re-routed yet again due to the work the MTA were doing on the tracks.

So in the midst of it all, we had to jump on the E train because the A train just wasn't coming. We got off at 53rd & Lexington Aves to discover that the subways aren't so dark and smelly with seedy type characters lurking in the shadows after all. I stumbled upon some murals done on the walls that were utterly extraordinary to say the least.

So I just thought I'd share them with you. Beautiful, creative, magnificent! This is giving me some inspiration for getting out and about in NYC. It's something to live in a city where you have access to everything. It's something else to get yourself smack involved in it all. This is an awakening to say the least. Well that and my trips to Thailand some years back.

Until next time, Be Blessed, Kiki

Hey now... Well my darlings I decided to treat myself to a belated birthday(May 25) present yesterday and go see the play RENT tonight, June 11! Since living in NYC it was only a train ride away. I got there in plenty of time to stand in line! About a good half an hour. Eventually the line moved on. I took my seat and shortly the play began.

All I can say is WOW!!! There was so much going on in the beginning, I didn't know where to lay my eyes. Those "children" were jumping, swinging, crawling, & running all over the place. The singing was superb! Everyone sang, sang again and then sang some more. I was very impressed.

Somewhere shy of the intermission I found myself not able to keep my eyes open. I don't know whether because the show slowed down or I was just tired. By the second part of the show, I was up and ready to enjoy one more time.

Although I love the movie version, the play was different somehow. More interactive craziness going on. Scenes that were cut out of the movie because I'm sure it would have been way to long. For the most part, anyone planning to go, better do it now before they shut down in September for good.

I managed to take pics of 4 of the lead characters; Roger Davis (Will Chase), Mark Cohen (Adam Kantor), Benjamin Coffin III (Rodney Hicks) and last but not least, Mimi Marquez (Tamyra Gray). You all know Tamyra from the first season of American Idol. Oh, I also got a pic of the original Tom Collins (Jesse L Martin)! They have him printed up on that wall where most of the play goers have left their mark at one time or another.

I took pics of Rodney Hicks posing with one of the other ladies. My pic with Tamyra Gray is not all that good. Self pics don't show up well with too much light (LOL). Anyhow you get to see what I seen.

Until next time, be blessed.

Kisses,Kiki

My Hair Affair...

Who knew when I started doing hair some 20+ years ago that I would've gotten so great at it!? I worked with some of the best. Trained at fabulous schools. I still don't consider myself the best overall but I'm definitely not the worse. So before anyone asks, "Girl what kind of hair you do?," above is a sampling....

My View Of ABC's The View...

Okay, after waiting almost a year to get this ticket, they finally sent me a letter last week letting me know that the day has come to go to The View.

So earlier this morning after finally getting up about 7:30am, I pulled it together to be out of the apt. at about 9:30-ish. Since I didn't have far to go from where I lived in the Bronx, I was number 19 in line. It was cold, damp and rainy in that line. I first thought my face was going wash off along with the drizzle, but a woman like me knows to paint up with the waterproof face and of course the synthetic hair. My real hair although is passed my shoulders, I wouldn't dare let rain mess me up before I even get in the door. I was set!

Now we finally got in after waiting what seemed like hours to only have to wait again once we got checked in and gone through security. So we wait and wait and oh yeah, wait somemore. Finally we saw that the first show ended and the folks were coming out of the elevators with free Ipods as gifts. I only hoped I'd be so lucky...

After the upstairs studio was cleared for the next show, we were aloud up. While going through the doors we were given juices, Keebler's cookies and protein bars as a snack. I guess we waited this long, might as well feed us. I got seated. The comic/cordinator gave us the 411 of what (and what not) to do. I'm happy we could take pics during the breaks.

The show went off without a hitch. The ladies of The View came out including Ms Barbara Walters. The guests were Ms Gwyneth Paltrow (Iron Man) and Mr. Ward Connely (Political Activist). I was in some kind of daze for a sec. I really looked at them good. These are tiny, tiny people! With my big frame at 300+ lbs, standing 5'-11," I stayed seated the whole time. No need to scare them with all this "woman" here... LOL.

I got to take all the pics I needed. I wish I had of spoke up a little, I could have easily taken a pic with them all. Oh well next time. I heard one woman in line saying she waited up to two years for some tickets. I hope she was able to go see Maury or Montel in-between time. Anyhow I had a great time. The pics are posted and oh... I didn't get a Ipod but they sent us home with some cosmetics from Estee Lauder and a Iron Man, Repulsor Power toy. Since I don't have a man just yet, I guess Iron Man will just have to do (LOL).

Anyhow I hope you enjoyed this first of many blogs yet to come. I'll only blog interesting and entertaining ones; just so you aren't bored to death. Like the ladies mentioned, "Take a little time to enjoy The View."
